Dorothy Monroe, Owner

Hello Spartanburg Downtown Association! I am Dorothy Monroe, owner of Refuel Wine Bar and Retail. I am so excited to announce the opening of a dream and concept that I have had in the works for years. I finally found a great location and community to serve.

I was born and raised in Arkansas and moved to Michigan, where I lived for 39 years. After recently retiring, I relocated to Spartanburg less than a year ago. My daughter Stephanie Monroe, who has served the Spartanburg community for over 7 years, has helped me to establish this wonderful bar- restaurant that I have been very eager to finally open.

We opened Refuel Wine Bar and Retail in early October 2011. It is located in the heart of downtown, where we found an amazing space to renovate and construct an upscale Wine and Tapas bar. We feature a great selection of wines and spirits accompanied with a delicious assortment of small-plate Tapas. Many of our wines and cheeses are locally produced, and we support local artists from live entertainment to visual arts displayed for sale. We strive to be environmentally conscious through various selections of our products. On at least two Fridays a month, we have local, live entertainment featuring an eclectic variety of sound ranging from jazz to traditional folk.

I am extremely enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve the Spartanburg Community and provide a relaxing evening atmosphere. I encourage everyone to please come out and enjoy the great ambiance we have created.
