Cohen's Closeouts

Jeffrey Cohen was born and raised in Manhattan with deep roots in the garment industry. In 1995, a friend called Jeffrey to ask for his help with a retail operation in Gaffney, South Carolina. After 40 years in New York, he decided it would be a good change. While managing the store,

Jeffrey opened a tiny wholesale business out of a garage in the backyard of his home in Spartanburg. "There was no heat, no AC, no lights; just storage." Over a short period of time,the business he started calling "JefCo" expanded to warehouse in Spartanburg.

Cohen's Exterior

Cohen's Closeouts came at the requests of friends and the community. It is an offspring of the Spartanburg based Jefco International, LLC which is still a wholesaler that distributes to discount retailers and small local stores throughout the U.S., South America, and Asia. All wholesale distributions are done from their warehouse here in downtown Spartanburg. The store came along as a way to sell excess merchandise to the community.

Cohen's Closeouts carries mens, womens, kids, and accessories. You never know what you can find at Cohen's; it's full of little treasures at the best outlet prices. Kathy Dickinson of Chester says, "I come to Cohen's every month. If I lived here in Spartanburg, I'd be here all the time."

Cohen's Sign

The store is right next to the railroad tracks on West Main Street, so every time the train goes by, customers get a dollar off or what they call "Cohen's Cash" if they are at the check-out. It's known in the community as the "choo-choo" checkout. So, whether you're looking for a great deal or a little taste of the garment district, Cohen's will give you a bit of it all!
